What this calculator does
Converts a weight between grams, kilograms and pounds — for grapes at harvest, sugar for chaptalization, or additives. Every equivalent shows at once.
The formula
1 kg = 1000 g1 lb = 453.592 g
Worked example
- A crate of grapes: 25 kg
- In grams 25 × 1,000 = 25,000 g
- In pounds 25,000 ÷ 453.592 = 55.116 lb
25 kg is 25,000 g, or about 55.116 lb
Questions
How many grams are in a pound?
The calculator uses 1 lb = 453.592 g, so a kilogram is about 2.205 lb.
Why “weight” and not “mass”?
In the cellar they mean the same thing: what the scale shows. The app calls the group “mass”; this page uses the everyday word.
